- What can I do to take charge of my own health? This is an important question–first, you may NOT want to turn over your health and wellness responsibility to another. Learn how to be your own advocate—we can help. The pioneers in this country wouldn’t, and evidence today is mounting that we shouldn’t. In 2004, a major paper entitled Death by Medicine statistically demonstrated that medical care kills about 1,000,000 Americans each year, making it the number one cause of death in the USA.
Unfortunately, this is by no means a recent revelation. Forty years ago Ivan Illich wrote Medical Nemesis (NY: Bantam, 1977) that provided similar substantiation that medical care is “harmful to our health,” and at best statistically valueless. So thorough was Illich’s dissection of orthodox medicine that the British Medical Association began a self-investigation based on his findings. In fact, the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota once admitted that their diagnosis rate was only about 50% correct. Also, 20% or more of laboratory tests are inaccurate. One out of five hospitalized patients today is there because of improper treatment by a physician. This is called the “iatrogenic” or doctor-caused illness. Can we do better? In many situations yes. I’m not saying if you have an accident to set your own leg or perform open heart surgery, but as far as chronic or degenerative diseases are concerned–we probably can. No person knows your body better than you. The world’s most sophisticated and sensitive diagnostic apparatus is your own body’s intuitive feelings.Often simple lifestyle changes can make a huge difference. Take back your health by taking more time and interest in your own personal well being, rather than turning it over to a licensed drug dealer. It’s time we to take back our health by looking for the cause of illness rather than treating your symptoms with a pill.
- Do you really believe that natural therapies can help?
Yes. Natural therapies aren’t just another way to fight disease but often a superior way to eliminate them. This website focuses as much as possible on the “real” cause of chronic illness. Natural healing, such as diet, supplements, and everyday lifestyle changes are more difficult to implement and change, versus surgery or drugs. No one can follow you around to see that you eat right, supplement properly, exercise and live happily. In Europe people have always gone to nature-cure spas or clinics for care and naturopathic physicians for advice. Also, natural therapies are often straightforward and reliable enough to safely do on your own and at home. Drugs on the other hand are dispensed by a pharmacist, surgery by surgeons, and 10 minute office visits by your doctor.Drugs and surgeries by their very nature are not safe–in one a chemical or poison is added to your body, in the other, an organ or part of the body is removed.
- If natural remedies are so effective, why have my doctors not prescribed them for me?
It’s not reasonable to expect medical doctors and pharmaceutical companies to tell you how to avoid their services by trying alternative therapies. Just like your’re not going to get Donald Trump to tell you to vote for Hillary, or get an enchilada in a French restaurant. Well, hospitals, doctors, and pharmaceutical companies all share a common Achilles’ heel: they profit from disease. I wish this were not the case, but follow the money and consider the results.
- What is Stress?
Stress is the feeling of being under too much mental or emotional pressure–you feel unable to cope. People have different ways of reacting to stress, so a situation that feels stressful to one person may be motivating to someone else. Many of life’s demands can cause stress, particularly work, family, close relationships, or money problems. And, when you feel stressed, it can affect everything you do. It can affect how you feel, think, behave and how your body works. In fact, common signs of stress include sleeping problems, sweating, loss of appetite and difficulty concentrating.
You may feel anxious, irritable or have low self esteem, have racing thoughts, worry constantly, and go over, and over, and over the same things in your head. You may notice that you lose your temper more easily, drink more or act unreasonably. You may experience physical symptoms: headaches, muscle tension, pain, or dizziness.
Stress causes a surge of hormones in your body. These stress hormones are released to enable you to deal with pressures or threats – the so-called “fight or flight” response. Once the pressure or threat has passed, your stress hormone levels will usually return to normal. However, if you’re constantly under stress, these hormones will remain in your body, leading to adrenal fatigue. Stress is not considered an illness of itself, but it can cause serious illness if it isn’t addressed. It’s important to recognize the symptoms of stress early. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of stress will help you figure out ways of coping and save you from adopting unhealthy coping methods, such as drinking or smoking.
